Are your hands a tell-tale sign of your age?
In most cases, we’re too focused on the more obvious results of aging—from its impact on the skin and face to how the body changes over time. However, the hands are a dead giveaway of age and often get neglected. They work very hard for us! Why not give them the same rejuvenating treatment that we use to restore aging facial skin?
We’re all aware of how the facelift works, but did you know you can actually receive a “hand lift”? At Terrell Clinic, we have been big fans of the injectible, or dermal filler, RADIESSE® based on its remarkable efficacy in reducing moderate-to-severe lines and wrinkles and restoring volume to different areas of the face.
We’ve taken these results to the next level by administering the filler to the hands.
RADIESSE® can effectively reduce the appearance of:
- Volume loss
- Thinning skin
- Uneven texture
- Wrinkles and scars
- Veins and tendons
What is RADIESSE® and why is it suited for treating aging hands?
From smile lines to chin and cheek recontouring, RADIESSE® has helped men and women smooth over aging, wrinkled skin and restore the youthful shape of their faces. This gel-like substance, made up of tiny calcium hydroxylapatite particles, works by stimulating the body’s own production of collagen; thus filling in lines and restoring volume. It can do the very same thing for hands that appear “bonier”, more frail and wrinkled and suffer from “crepey-looking” skin.
How does RADIESSE® treatment for the hands work? What can I expect?
When injected into the hands, RADIESSE® can provide instant results including a plumping up of the skin and the increased appearance of volume. The gel-like substance is injected directly beneath the skin to act much like scaffolding that creates space between tendons, joints, and large veins. Over time, RADIESSE® also stimulates the body’s collagen production to further support and strengthen this “scaffolding.”
In addition, patients can expect zero downtime and watch as results continue to improve over the course of the following few weeks.
Is RADIESSE® safe and are there risks?
The first and only FDA-approved filler treatment for volume loss in the hands, RADIESSE® typically helps correct volume loss with very fast, visible results. In many cases, the results can last up to a year after the injections.
Before receiving any treatment, we will consult with you to determine if there are any risks of allergic reactions or complications. Those with a history of severe allergies—particularly to medicines like lidocaine—or a bleeding disorder are unlikely to be good candidates for RADIESSE®. It is also recommended that pregnant and/or breastfeeding women do not receive this treatment; however, we can help you determine your risks along with opportunities for improvement.
