What to Expect After Liposuction at Terrell Clinic
Your Guide to a Smooth and Confident Recovery
At Terrell Clinic, Dr. Mendy Terrell uses advanced technology — including VASER Lipo, VASERSmooth, and SmartLipo — in conjunction to give patients the most precise and natural-looking results possible. By combining these modalities, Dr. Terrell can gently remove stubborn fat, smooth uneven texture, and sculpt the body with minimal downtime.
All of our liposuction procedures are performed under local anesthesia, which means you can stay comfortable and awake throughout the process without the risks and complications associated with general anesthesia.
Your Recovery Timeline
Most patients find the recovery from liposuction at Terrell Clinic to be surprisingly manageable. Here’s what you can expect in the days and weeks following your procedure:
Days 1–3: Rest and Garment Care
Patients typically take about three days off from work, though many feel well enough to return sooner — some even the next day. The main reason for the downtime is that your surgical garment must be worn continuously for the first 72 hours. After that initial period, you can remove it to shower and switch to your second garment while washing the first.
The incision sites are very small and usually close within 3–10 days after surgery. You won’t need stitches or drain tubes. Instead, we recommend placing small absorbent pads inside the garment to protect your clothing while the incisions are sealing.
Week 2: Regaining Energy
By the second week, most patients are feeling much more energized. While you may feel ready to return to normal activities and exercise, it’s important to take things slowly. Overexertion in the first few days back can lead to soreness, especially after long periods of standing, walking, or doing household chores.
Compression Garment: The Key to Your Results
For the best results, you’ll need to wear your compression garment 24 hours a day for the first two months. After that, we recommend continuing to wear it for about 12 hours per day for another two months.
This garment is the most important part of your recovery — it helps mold your body into its new contours as swelling subsides and tissues heal. We’ll guide you through choosing and fitting your garment at your post-op appointments to ensure you’re getting the best possible compression and comfort.
Returning to Normal Activities
Most patients resume exercise and active lifestyles at around two weeks post-op, though this can vary depending on your procedure and healing process. Many notice increased confidence and motivation as their new shape begins to take form and their energy returns.
