Terrell Clinic offers a number of ways in which we can help sculpt, slim, and provide more definition to the arms. One of the more successful treatments is liposuction. For anyone who has not experienced lipo, the thought can be daunting. There are hundreds of techniques and countless promises for results out there. But with an experienced provider and good research, this is a cosmetic correction that can help provide a lasting look and feel to love.

DON’T BECOME OVERWHELMED BY THE OPTIONS

Dr. Terrell uses three primary techniques for liposuction: VASER Liposuction, VASERsmooth, and SmartLipo. As a patient, all you have to do is schedule a consultation, and Dr. Terrell will do the rest. She works closely with patients to determine which combination of the the three technologies will help you achieve the look and feel you desire. She expertly and precisely uses each technology, often in innovative ways, to sculpt and diminish excess fat in each part of the body that she works on.

Importantly, all liposuction technologies have been thoroughly vetted by Dr. Terrell based on their ability to provide results, minimize scarring, and provide faster recovery. Terrell Clinic schedules just one liposuction procedure per day in order to achieve the most optimal results for the patient. This allows us the time and resources required to provide the best treatment. Unfortunately, this is not always common practice in the field.

HOW SOON WILL I RECOVER FROM LIPOSUCTION OF THE ARMS?

Once the procedure is complete, you are sent home with an abundance of resources and education for aftercare (not to mention our full support as you heal). You’ll also wear a surgical garment, with pads inserted to cover your incisions, for three days post procedure.

Because of the innovative technology behind VASER and SmartLipo tools, incisions are small and close on their own over the course of 3 to 10 days. During this time, we suggest having maxi pads on hand as you’ll be changing them out regularly to keep the area clean.

After the first 72 hours, you’ll be able to take your garment off to shower. We will provide you with an additional garment to put on while the other one is being washed. That way, you’ll have a spare to use in those first weeks of wearing the garment continuously.

Everyone is different, but for the most part, you’re going to be sore at least the first two weeks. Patients generally return to work after three days. Of course, this is when you can take a shower, so this certainly helps prepare you to face the day! After about two weeks, you can likely head back to the gym, but again, everyone is different. We ask that you consult with Dr. Terrell about your personal recovery timeline.

Ultimately, Dr. Terrell advises that you keep the surgical-grade compression garment on at all times for those first two months. This really is crucial for proper healing and the best long-term results.

A patient recently commented, “About six to eight weeks after the procedure, I really started to notice a difference. At first, I thought the swelling was completely gone and that I looked awesome, but it was truly just the beginning! It just continues to get smaller and tighter-looking. I love it!”

Some quick tips for an easy recovery:

  • Take sponge baths during the first couple of days post surgery.
  • Prepare the maxi pad strips in advance so that you have plenty on hand during your recovery.
  • Switch from prescribed pain medication to over-the-counter Tylenol after the first or second day post surgery, if possible.
  • Get your hair done in advance of the surgery so you don’t have to worry about it during the first three days of healing.
